The Accelerator Centre (AC) has built strong relationships with key Innovation Partners, many of whom have chosen to locate their operations within our facility. This is of benefit to our clients because they have easy access to a unique mix of innovation experts with wide ranging skills and experience.
The Canadian Innovation Centre is a national, not-for-profit organization, based in Waterloo, Ontario, dedicated to helping innovators take the first important steps in the commercialization of their innovation. Founded over 30 years ago, the Centre has provided guidance and assistance to over 20,000 inventors and their companies, on the viability of their products and the steps required to take their product to market.
The Centre is at the forefront of the development of best practices in the Commercialization of innovation and has access to numerous resources and services which are directly relevant to innovators.
Early stage innovators suffer from having to deal with many important strategic issues at the same time, from identifying if their innovation meets a market need, to understanding the business model, finding a supplier and a route to market. All of this with little or no resources!
The Centre is familiar with this environment, and helps innovators in a number of ways. The most important issue the CIC addresses is which of all the possible questions should be answered first and what is the best order to answer the remaining ones. Linked with this is a plan to spend as little money as possible in the early stage and more as confidence is gained that the direction taken is the right one. There is no one size fits all solution, and there are many ways to minimize the expense, without reducing the effectiveness of the path chosen.
The Centre for Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (CBET) is designed to act as the cornerstone of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UW.
