The Accelerator Centre (AC) officially opened its doors on May 18, 2006 through the cooperation of its founding partners: the Federal and Ontario governments, the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, the City of Waterloo, and the University of Waterloo. The Waterloo Research and Technology Park was selected as the site for the AC given the community-based initiative to foster the radical innovation that Waterloo Region is well known for.
In addition to its close proximity to local technology companies as well as the significant technology research activities at the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, Conestoga College and the University of Guelph, the Research and Technology Park provides an environment which fully supports the needs of Accelerator Centre start-up technology clients as they grow and expand their companies.
The Accelerator Centre strives to be a world-renowned centre for the cultivation of technological entrepreneurship.
